A career at sea is more than just choosing a course or clearing an entrance examination. It requires the right guidance, preparation, discipline, and a clear understanding of what life in the Merchant Navy truly demands.
I am Capt. Amit Bagga, a maritime professional with extensive sailing experience and experience of serving at the rank of Master. Throughout my career, I have gained firsthand exposure to the responsibilities, challenges, decision-making, and professional standards required to build and sustain a successful career in the Merchant Navy.
Having experienced the maritime profession from the deck of a ship to the command level, I understand that choosing a career in the Merchant Navy is a major decision — not only for a student, but also for their family.
Why I Started Cadetly
Over the years, I have seen many young aspirants who are interested in joining the Merchant Navy but are often confused about the correct path. Students and parents commonly struggle with questions such as:
- Which Merchant Navy course is right for me?
- Is IMUCET compulsory for my chosen career path?
- What is DNS and how does sponsorship work?
- Which training institute should I choose?
- How should I prepare for sponsorship examinations and interviews?
- What are the real career opportunities and challenges at sea?
- How can I avoid misleading information and wrong career decisions?
My objective is to provide aspiring seafarers with practical, honest, and experience-based guidance from someone who understands the maritime profession from within.
My Approach
At Cadetly, the focus is not simply on helping students prepare for an examination. The objective is to help them understand the complete journey — from IMUCET preparation and course selection to sponsorship awareness, interview preparation, career planning, and understanding the realities of life at sea.
I strongly believe that every student should understand both the opportunities and responsibilities of a career in the Merchant Navy before taking the next step.
